Kintsugi & The Yellow Butterfly

About

The Yellow Butterfly Program is a conversation around mental health and how community connection can have a bigger impact than we could ever imagine. Everyone has had moments of feeling lost, helpless and alone: just like the character Kintsugi who you will follow along with in Kintsugi & The Yellow Butterfly. We wanted to give a voice to mental health and how to talk to the youth in your life about it.

We had a rare opportunity to partner with the husband and wife Duo Bee & Tad of the B Nest Studio and create this book

"Kintsugi-the name of this caterpillar means “to join with Gold”. Broken things, rather than being discarded, are mended with gold.  There is no shame in brokenness, rather showing that what we have been through, all our missteps and flaws, is what makes us beautiful.  It is a reminder to stay optimistic when things are not perfect, and in these moments, we should fill in the cracks with light and gold and the support of the community around us.

We live in a society that throws away “broken things.” This concept of Kintsugi has made us step back and ponder the idea of broken.  Broken Ground allows seeds to be planted.  Broken acorns grow into mighty oak trees.  Broken eggs hatch new life.  Broken cocoons reveal butterflies.

Come experience mending and transformation with Kingtsugi on his journey through the second story book from Bee and Tad at the B Nest Studios.

Proceeds from every book go directly to The Yellow Butterfly Program.
